“The
Spirit of the Lord has been given to me… He has sent me to
bring good news to the poor, to bind up hearts that are broken,
to proclaim liberty to captives, freedom to those in prison”
(Is. 61:1).

Our
apostolate proceeds for the Church founded upon the Apostolates.
Through our life of consecration, we enter more intimately into
the apostolic mission of the Church as an outflow of our union with
Christ, who has called us to follow Him unconditionally. In union
with Christ, we go out to the poor who need to feel the goodness
of Christ who is living acting in us.
We find in our
works opportunities for showing love of God our heavenly Father.
Since the essence of religious life is the living of Christ as perfectly
as possible we imitate Christ’s approach to work and reflect
Him in whatever duty is assigned to us, bearing in mind that whatever
we do for God’s little ones is done for Him. Belonging as
we are to the “Family of the Handmaid of the Lord”,
we are to offer all our works, great and small through her to the
most Holy Trinity.
Every activity
of the apostolate finds in Charity its origin and driving force.
What is done for God should be done thoroughly well and out of love.
Therefore, we
are most careful in the discharge of our duties, knowing that the
value of our work comes from the charity, which animates them. We
Are therefore, content with whatever task are assigned to us and
strive to do them faithfully.
Our apostolic
activities include care of the poor and the needy in homes, hospitals
schools and any other charitable work, which the diocesan Bishop
may judge necessary for the good of souls.

In our Institute,
apostolate to the poor takes pride of place. Through home visitation,
we seek out the poor around us, assisting them with as muh as our
resources permit. We help the poor in such a way as to make them
able to help themselves.
Our apostolate to the poor is also extended to the poor relations
of our sisters.
We
take active part in programmes that aim at alleviating the sufferings
of the poor, and encourage all works that promote their full dignity
as God’s children. Mercy
Sisters work in homes where motherless babies are cared for.

The
ministry of healing is very central to Christianity. Owing to the
fact that it is very dear to Christ, He made it a sign of His Messianic
mission, “…Go and tell John what you have seen and
heard: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed…”
(Lk. 7:22).
The
Daughters, through health service perpetuate Christ’s mission
on earth by radiating His loving concern for the sick and needy.
Their empathy, kindness and gentleness help to alleviate the sufferings
of the sick. By so doing, the daughters revitalise the health of
the sick both in mind and body.

Since the purpose of education
is the formation of the entire human person in view of his
final end and the good of the society, sisters in educating
the people of God, make it their
primary objective to impart sound moral and spiritual values,
taking note of advances in psychological pedagogical and intellectual
sciences (G.E. No. 1).
Our teaching
apostolate therefore extends to all levels from the kindergarten
to the university level, in ways suited to the needs of the times.

We
go about our various responsibilities in interdependence and mutual
respect. Each sister’s work in the community is of unique
value to the whole. Sister who serves in administrative roles, formation
work, domestic duties and other internal duties make a vital contribution
to the apostolic life of the Institute and of the Church.
Our sisters
who cannot participate in active work because of illness or age,
make a vital contribution to the apostolate of the Institute depends
on the continuity of membership, vocations can be fostered through
their prayers and exemplary lives
