c) Care for the poor and needy in hospitals, orphanages and homes
d) Teach in Schools.”

e) Work in the Parishes, e.g. prepare people for the Sacraments, guide Church Societies.

3. The general end of this Congregation is to work for the glory of God, the honour of the ever Blessed Virgin Mary, for the sanctification of its members by the observance of the evangelical counsels and for the salvation of souls.

The Spirit of our Congregation is that of charity, humility, prayer, penance and abandonment to the will of God. It is a dynamic growth of the spirit of Christ as expressed in the gospel. We strive to imitate Christ in order to be His faithful interpreters by our very lives.

Charity:

Charity, the greatest commandment, embraces God and neighbour. In our love of God we strive to acquire a deep union with God through continuous prayer and special devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. We show our love of God in practice by loving our neighbour. Our Love of neighbour begins with the love of our fellow sisters.

Our life is to be deeply rooted in the family spirit and diffused through us to our neighbours. It is to be said of us “See how they love one another”. Our formula for the love of our fellow sisters is A.F.H - Accepting, Forgiving and Helping one another.

Humility:
Humility is the foundation of our spiritual edifice. Our life of humility is based on the humility of Christ who emptied himself and become man, and who urges us to emulate his meekness and humility (Mt. 11:29). As Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy, our sense of nothingness and weakness
is to fill us with great humility.

Prayer:

The Daughters are called to live a life of love in union with God, a profound interior life which gives authenticity to our apostolate and without which we would be lacking in what is central to our very life namely union with God. “Pray always in the spirit” (Eph. 6:18). W are called not only to be united to him, but also to reflect him in every moment of our life.

Daily adoration of the blessed sacrament makes our community the spiritual power house, which it was founded to be.

Penance:

Father if this cup shall pass away unless I drink it, thy will be done
(Mt. 26:39). Guided by the spirit of Christ, our penance consists in the willing acceptance of the sufferings our daily life and offering them to God as part His redeeming act of love. By our sufferings, we bring others to Christ by teaching them how to accept sufferings.

Charism is a dynamic force which responds to the needs of the times and circumstances. Being concerned with the moral decadence and other crying needs of our time, the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Mercy have undertaken the care of little children of pre-school age. We teach in Nursery School to help in character formation and inculcate love of God at this early stage of life.

We have it as our charism to bear witness to the mercy of God, by the following the footsteps of Christ, the merciful saviour and the Mary our Mother of Mercy. This Mercy is expressed as compassion forgiveness and Kindness.

Mercy as Compassion

Our compassion is based on the example of our divine master - Christ represented by the Good Samaritan who after helping the wounded victim also provided for his future needs.

We undertake the apostolate of loving and caring for the spiritually, intellectually and physically poor, the under-privilege by working in hospitals, homes and teaching in school.

Like mary our model mother of mercy, we as special daughters of mary mother of mercy are sensitive to the needs of those around us through our deeds and words

Mercy as Forgiveness:

As sisters we make it part of our habit to have a forgiving heart, excusing one another’s faults in charity. Our forgiveness of each other has limits (Mt. 18:21-22).

Mercy as Kindness:

The basis for our kindness is the injunction of Christ to give because of Him (Mt. 9:41). We offer Christ like hospitality to all who come to us. As Daughters of Mother of Mercy, we shall strive to be tender hearted towards one another, and show kindness to people who are difficult to deal with.

Being honoured with title of Daughters of Mary, Mother of Mary, we seek the special patronage of Mary our Mother of Mercy to take Jesus to His poor especially the sick, the aged, the orphans, the underprivileged and to evangelize the spiritually impoverished. (Evangelizare pauperibus misit me) “He has sent me to preach the good news to the poor” (Is. 61:1). We entreat our Mother of Mercy to help us to be humble, compassionate and kind to all but more to the poor and all who need our help.

Our practical means of fulfilling this are: - Care of the orphans, the aged and the sick. It also finds expression in our active participation in education by which we bring Christ, the light of the world to the spiritually, intellectually and morally poor.
